The Haida Gwaii Media Collective is working with some top industry professionals from across Canada to facilitate workshops and trainings on Haida Gwaii. Throughout 2022 we will be bringing these talented creators in to help our island locals develop our stories from concept to finished work.

  • Georgia Esporlas

    PHOTOGRAPHER + INSTRUCTOR

    Georgia is an internationally published photographer, cinematographer and film school instructor based between Vancouver and Toronto. She specializes in fashion, portraiture, and capturing the unique human experience through creative lighting and styling.

  • Sean Stiller

    FILM DIRECTOR + CINEMATOGRAPHER

    Sean Stiller is an award-winning Indigenous director and cinematographer based in Toronto and Vancouver, Canada.

  • Darla Contois

    PLAYWRIGHT

    Darla is an award-winning Cree playwright from Winnipeg, MB with her work celebrated across the Canada.

  • Facilitator Paige Foskett

    Paige Foskett

    FILM DIRECTOR, ACTOR & CHOREOGRAPHER

    Paige is an actress, singer, and dancer based in Toronto. When not performing, Paige is a film director, choreographer and a movement director for music videos, movies & live projects.

  • Moe Clark

    MUSICIAN + PERFORMER

    Moe is a multidisciplinary Métis artist, looping pedal mistress, spoken word poet, educator, artistic producer, public speaker, activist based out of Montréal.

  • Ryan Rizzo

    DRONE PILOT

    Ryan is the founder of TerreSky, and one of Canada’s most experienced drone pilots. His company, Poesis Media, has been a leader in drone mapping and technologies since 2014. In 2017 he was the chief drone pilot for the Canada C3 expedition, a 25,000 km icebreaker journey which sailed all three of Canada’s coasts.

    FILM SOUND MIXER

    Graham has over 20 years of experience working in the Vancouver film industry as a sound mixer, and has worked on countless productions including; Riverdale, War for the Planet of the Apes, Lost In Space, Mission Impossible: ghost Protocol, and many more.

  • Mily Mumford

    FILM DIRECTOR + SCREENWRITER

    Mily is a Vancouver based filmmaker, screenwriter, theatre creator, and mental health researcher who strives to create work and community based practice centred in social justice.

  • Jane Aurora

    MUSIC PRODUCER

    Jane is a producer, mix engineer, music/audio production mentor, licensing agent, music business consultant and musician. She has divided her time between North America and Australia for the past 15+ years, working with artists and music producers from Canada & Australia in both an industry and production/performance capacity.

  • Helen Yung

    SET & COSUME DESIGN

    Helen is an interdisciplinary artist and theatre designer. Her work has been nominated for the Premier’s Award for Excellence in the Arts, and multiple Toronto Dora Theatre Awards (Design, Lighting and Production).

  • Nikki Shaffeuullah

    DIRECTOR + WRITER

    Nikki (she/her) is a theatre & film artist, facilitator, writer, performer, equity worker, and community organizer. Currently, she is a curator with National Arts Centre - English Theatre, and a resident artist with Why Not Theatre.

  • Patrick Shannon

    FILM DIRECTOR + PHOTOGRAPHER

    Patrick is an Indigenous film director, award-winning social entrepreneur, and university instructor from Haida Gwaii. His work centres around social and cultural justice, and the elevation of marginalized voices through education, youth mentorship, media, and technology.

  • Leah Dean Cohen

    FILM DIRECTOR + CINEMATOGRAPHER

    Leah is originally from Paris, where she studied literature, art, and psychology. She moved to Vancouver in 2015, where she now works as a Producer, Director, and Cinematographer for feature films, commercials, and music videos; always with a very colourful and stylized approach borrowed from European influences.
